i'm not the most well versed in survival shows though i've watched a few in my time BUT i'm going to try and write where i think seventeen would place if they were all to compete in a survival show, based on numerous factors. if for some reason you get offended by me making observations based on reality and then correlating it to this i don't know what to tell you (i don't think any of them would be totally nugu though :D). this is very hard to work out though so obviously this is just my opinion and doesn't really matter since it's a hypothetical situation LMAO. also 13-1 isn't their exact placing, they would be spread out from the first half to who actually gets in the group - i'm not sure how to explain it.

also, for fun, i'm gonna add a song i'd either like to see them perform for their evaluation in episode 1/2 or one i can imagine them getting (although i do like all these songs). i know in evaluations trainees are often set up but i'm not doing that here lmao. if the song doesn't have a choreo then idk they can do original choreo. lots of these would also probably be in groups with other trainees, i'm not gonna make any of the svt members be in the same groups though in order to shake it up a lil.

13. CHOI SEUNG CHEOL:
now listen, i know what you're thinking "why scoups? he's not even the least popular member of seventeen" well we need to take into consideration that this is a survival show setting. i am going to say this in the most loving way possible: scoups does not do shit. like yeah, he's definitely a dependable leader but at the same time he will not put himself out there, that's not the vibe i get from scoups. he will have a cult following who will be like "get him in the top 9 or i kill myself" and then no one will listen to them because they simply don't see the vision and then they will fake their suicide on the internet when he gets out in the first half of the competition. then again, if he were put in the leader position people will either be like "omg guys we need him he's so nurturing" or "yes alpha daddy masc macho king" like carats already do with him.. but because he doesn't put himself out there i'm not sure if he'd allow himself to be the leader in a survival show context.
evaluation song: wooseok x kuanlin's i'm a star

12. XU MING HAO:
i feel like he'd have a small and devoted fanbase but he wouldn't make it far because as a person minghao doesn't seem to be the type to try and grab anyone's attention (unless i've been perceiving him wrong....?), like he just does him and that's not the mainstream and what people want, he's 'edgy'. also he's chinese which is sadly a disadvantage in the kpop survival show realm. on the flip side, he'd get hyped for unique style and telling it like it is during the confessionals.. although he'd also probably get a bit of hate. if they were to evil edit anyone in seventeen it'd be him so he'd get like halfway through it and then outsies.
evaluation song: vixx's shangri-la

11: WEN JUN HUI:
like minghao, he's already at a disadvantage for being chinese. while jun is a performance unit member, he's more focused on his vocals than the other performance unit members but obviously isn't gonna be of the same calibre as a lead or main vocal. because of this, he'd end up trying for the main vocal position and then end up making a mistake, like anyone in his position would (also.. we saw that moment in cyzj when he's quite literally hurting himself while practicing for a stage), and then because of this ONE MISTAKE he'd drop and get eliminated. rip to a real king.
evaluation song: taemin's move

10. LEE CHAN:
love him down he's my best friend but he's already on the unpopular side in seventeen, he'd probably be overlooked in a survival show too. the viewers would pull a haruto (or at least what i think will happen to him, let's pray it doesn't) on him: pushed by mnet for humour - like how he gets a lot of screen time in going seventeen, multitalented, multilingual (this was a stretch) but then gets to like.... the semi-final stage or just midway.
evaluation song: golden child's without you

9. JEON WON WOO:
like scoups, wonwoo also wouldn't put himself out there but he's perceived as a visual and people would make boyfriend edits about him in order to convince others to vote so he'd get pretty far! i could also see him having a moment like manami on the beat ya~.
evaluation song: exo's monster

8. LEE SEOK MIN:
main vocals are always overlooked because people want those who are strictly dancers or all rounders (OR all rounders under the guise of visuals who don't really excel at anything). they would pull a jeong jiyoon on him, except for the fact that she placed lower than where i'd expect him to place. plus, kep1er only really has one really good vocalist in my opinion so they wouldn't allow him in the group rip.
evaluation song: baekhyun's candy

7. HANSOL VERNON CHWE:
american, english speaker, like with the early svt years he would get lots of attention for his leonardo dicaprio (barf) 'resemblance'. i think people would be charmed by his rapping and stage presence but his personality wouldn't allow him to rank higher, like how people are first attracted to vernon but when they actually get into svt they don't care too much for him to be like a dedicated fan. he'd still make it in the group though.
evaluation song: got7's just right

6. JOSHUA HONG:
like with vernon, he's an english speaker so international fans in like america, europe, australia/nz etc will gun for him and pay extra attention to him for that alone. also perceived as gay so people would make "fruity moment compilations" (which is literally just thinly veiled homophobia but whatever). soft voice which is just nice enough for anyone to like and then add on his nurturing side that you often see him have with svt members BOOM... instant fans. he's not the strongest dancer at all but i could see him having an arc from having an audition which is like pretty mediocre and then improving a lot throughout the competition. he'd make it into the group.
evaluation song: wanna one's energetic

5. LEE JI HOON:
he would get far and make it into the group. he's pretty blunt which could come off as asshole-y like what i mentioned with minghao but at the same time he's an all rounder and has leader qualities. i would've ranked him higher but i feel like he doesn't fit into the typical cute member (ie dongpyo) archetype despite being perceived similarly sometimes but he's definitely not the tall conventionally attractive type like mingyu which could affect his ranking. not sure. he'd make it in though.
evaluation song: astro's baby

4. BOO SEUNG KWAN:
the token main vocal, perceived as 'girlypop', puts himself forward and everyone is endeared by his hilarity, possible leader qualities? yeah he'd definitely make it in.
evaluation song: infinite's the chaser

3. YOON JEONG HAN:
unique soft fairy visuals with the contrasting devilish personality would make anyone fall for him. also has nurturing qualities like joshua so therefore could be a contender for a leader since that's what kpop stans love. it's a no brainer for him to be added to the group.
evaluation song: bts' i need u

2. KIM MIN GYU:
he's gonna get the jiwoong treatment because everyone finds him sexyyyyyyy. even his sexiness alone would shoot him the top but people are also drawn in to his half-singing-half-rapping thing.
evaluation song: 2pm's a.d.t.o.y

1. KWON SOON YOUNG:
all rounder, grabs everyone's attention, cute visuals, crazy work ethic but also would be supportive to the other trainees... his sung hanbin SERVE. would probably win the show, let's be real.
evaluation song: shinee's sherlock (clue + note)
