openthetimemy predictions for how the debut song will sound because i'm desperate
what we know:
- mini album is titled "youth in the shade".. very coming of age esque
- first comeback spoiler at kcon japan showed hanbin and hao with a candle between them, then it's blown out by one of them. after the second comeback spoiler, people theorised this was one of them ending the game without the other
- second comeback spoiler was the trailer they posted about a month later showing members going in between worlds (?), one considered fake, all glitchy, game-like and then the other being reality. there's all these different intricacies but i'm not smart enough to understand though my very basic explanation should give you the gist
- i got inspiration to write this post because of this pic of hanbin in a white collared shirt with a cross (?) pattern on the chest area, not sure how to describe it, and it looks like he's exiting from a schedule - maybe something like studio choom, i don't know. i know it is from a sasaeng and i usually don't condone that but it came up on my for you page so i didn't even mean to see it and my eyes got so wide because this is the first real indication of what their comeback styling may look like (other than the trailers). it's sort of elegant but like i don't know....? still quite a bit of mystery
past predictions:
- the people wanted jelly pop 2.0 and girl i don't think that's happening
- energetic 2.0 could be possible... i know it's not that much different to jelly pop to be honest but i lean towards it more
- cute concept in general...... no. it would not suit them other than like matthew and even then i'd kinda cringe. look at ricky during say my name. he's cute but he's not cute, you know??!?!?!??!
current predictions:
- due to it being coming of age, more slick and Normal looking i think we are free of noise music ('noise' music - i know it's a genre but people usually just refer to loud or hyperpop music like this - has been done well outside of kpop but not within it, hi sophie and arca). to paraphrase what jasmine masters has said in the past: kpop fucked up noise music
- therefore, if the song were to sound like another group's, i think it would lean more towards enhypen and the boyz rather than ateez and stray kids WOOOOOOOOOOO (i don't even stan the groups listed - though i used to stan the boyz in their rookie days lmao - it's just their music is the clear better option because most of it actually sounds like music)
- the exact sound though? not much of a clue. just not noisy so we're on the right track
